We service guitar amplifiers and home audio amplifiers at the component level — tube heads and combos, solid-state amps, and vintage receivers. Hum, crackle, intermittent volume, a dead channel or no output at all usually traces back to a handful of known failure points rather than the whole amp being finished.
Most of what we find sits in the power supply (dried-out filter capacitors, failed rectifiers, open fuses that keep blowing for a reason), the preamp stages, or the tube sockets themselves — worn or arcing sockets and cold solder joints on the pins cause faults that get blamed on the tubes. We also handle bias adjustment after a retube, scratchy pots, and worn input and speaker jacks.
Amplifiers hold dangerous voltages inside even after being unplugged. Bring the amp to us rather than opening it up at home.
We repair pinball machines at board level, including MPU (main processing unit) boards from solid-state era machines. A machine that will not boot, resets during play, throws garbage on the displays, or has flippers and solenoids that fire on their own is almost always a board fault rather than a dead machine.
The most common thing we see is battery corrosion — a leaking alkaline battery pack on an MPU board eats through traces and via barrels over the years. We clean up the corrosion, rebuild the damaged traces, replace the affected sockets and headers, and can fit a remote battery holder so it does not happen again. Driver boards, power supply and rectifier boards, and display boards get the same treatment.
You do not need to move the whole cabinet — pull the boards and bring those in. Pickup can be arranged if you would rather we collect the machine.
We diagnose and repair flat screen TVs at the board level. Common issues include no picture, backlight failure, power supply problems, and HDMI port failures. Instead of buying a new TV let us find the exact failed component and fix it for a fraction of replacement cost.
